Pakistan, Kuwait Sign Protocol Agreement-2026 to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Kuwait have signed the Protocol Agreement-2026, aimed at significantly strengthening the military cooperation framework between the two countries established under the Defence Cooperation Agreement-2023.

The agreement was signed during a meeting between Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and a high-level Kuwaiti delegation headed by Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah in Rawalpindi.

The Kuwaiti delegation also included Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Khalid Darj Saad Al-Shriaan.

Under the new protocol, the Armed Forces of Pakistan will provide assistance to the Armed Forces of Kuwait in several areas of defence cooperation. These include military training, capacity building, border management and other fields mutually agreed upon by the two sides.

The agreement underscores the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait, based on mutual trust, respect and shared strategic interests. Both countries expressed their commitment to expanding defence cooperation and strengthening their partnership in areas of mutual interest.

The two sides also reaffirmed their resolve to enhance cooperation in support of mutual security, regional peace and stability.

During the meeting, Pakistan and Kuwait discussed a range of matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on bilateral defence relations, security cooperation and opportunities to further deepen military ties between the two brotherly countries.

The signing of the Protocol Agreement-2026 marks another step toward expanding the strategic defence partnership between Pakistan and Kuwait and strengthening cooperation between their armed forces.
